Well, Sir, all you have shown (and accurately, I note) is simply how wretched is this country.

I am nearing the end of my life - I am seventy-three. I may have some number of years left to me but, clearly, I am on the downslope. You, however, and (I presume) many of your readers are (by my standards at least) young and vigorous. Truly, if I was younger I would leave this wretched country. I am, however, "of an age" and I will be here for the balance of my years. My wife was shocked recently when our adult son advised that he was starting to think about leaving the country; by contrast, I was not at all surprised.

Oh, this wretched country! Orwell, indeed!

I continue to hope that our Millennials and Gen Zers will wake up... but it's a faint hope.

Without a doubt the tyrants will keep some of the commentary "on ice" & then when you least expect it, boom 💥. I imagine this is why Chris Skye is leaving, living in exile to continue the fight. This will be a cut & paste document across the Western world, imo. Thanks for the heads-up & keep yours down.👍🇦🇺

I am scared of this bill. But I'm even more scared that most Canadians buy into it as necessary to "protect" us.

The whole idea for it is based on the idea that the role of the government and the bureaucracy it creates is to keep us "safe". Be it from viruses, climate change, car accidents, trans fats, bullying, the danger of looking at an eclipse and blinding ourselves - whatever. Once we have accepted that the government has a legitimate role in protecting us (beyond our negative rights of free speech, not being assaulted, and private property) and creating a "safe" society, then we are well-and-truly screwed. And IMO we crossed that line quite some time ago.

This bill is a logical consequence of our basic belief in a nanny state that should take care of us.

This is what women vote for.... a bubble wrapped society safe from hurt feelings and being offended.

Our once strong and free country is no longer either of these things. Who would have thought? Oh right we can't think anymore. :(

Poilievre, assuming he wins next year, is going to have his work cut out for him.

Let's hope he will be different and not just take up the present torch using different words that are spun now. Does it look like I have lost faith in our governments?

Erosion of the slow, silent type is as destructive and deadly as its opposite. It just takes longer to notice it. An erosion of rational, defenceable law can only lead to a Canada ruled not by defensible, rational laws but by “every wind” of whim, fad and “ism” humans can think of. Even Orwell could not have imagined how this would turn out.

Well Doc, when the penalties for imagined "offenses" equal the penalties for something like, for example, the elimination of public officials a lot of people might realize they have nothing to lose by doing the real thing....

I am sad to say I believe that what you wrote for the MLI got you in big trouble with Medium. Things are spinning out of control.
